Phi-Life Cypher - Playback

Phi-Life Cypher's Playback is rich with the UK Hip-Hop collective, bringing the likes of Vadim, Daddy Skitz, Herbaliser and First Rate along to bolster the regular line-up of Nappa, Life & Si-Phili. Playback really is the cream of the Phi-Life crop, kicking off with Worldwide, wherein the Cypher boys go out alone with a loping beat and relentless organ sample, before making way for Skitz on Cordless Mics At 20 Paces where there is a production filled with acoustic guitars and polemical rhymes. From here Herbaliser is up next giving a melancholic backing to Distinguished Jamaican English, before Taskforce rocks up for a bouncing flash of great vocals and great breakdowns. Elsewhere, DJ Vadim brings a cavernous soul edge to Ghetto Rebels, MCM wades through tense strings for Red Alert, whilst DJ First Rate takes it back to the old school for Knew Rulez.
