From vocal forefathers Norris Da Boss Windross, Creed and the Dream Teem through to the birth of today’s superstars Dizzee Rascal, Wiley & Roll Deep, Pay As U Go, Kano, D Double E and Durrty Doogz..
Hand in hand, beat by beat, Sidewinder and the scene have evolved together.
The launch of the Sidewinder & Nuthingsorted.com ‘Peoples Choice Awards’ in 2002 furthermore emphasised the indispensable role in boosting the profile of new talent and music. Having suitably grown in stature, we’re now on the eve of the 3rd Annual Awards. to be hosted on Sat 18th September 2004 @ the £1 million venue ‘Ocean’ in Hackney, London.
Club Sidewinder and Nuthingsorted.com proudly present the 3rd Annual UK People’s Choice Music Awards. This event is recognised to be the only Official UK Garage & Urban music award ceremony in the country. The UK Urban Music scene is growing, with the likes of So Solid Crew, Ms Dynamite, Dizzee Rascal, Daniel Bedingfield, Mis-Teeq, Heartless Crew, Pay As You Go Crew, FYA, Raghav and the Rishi Rich Project achieving top ten hits. These artists have paved the way for Wiley, Durrty Doogz, D Double E, Kano and Riko to get record deals with the leading labels. It has been a policy for both Club Sidewinder and Nuthingsorted.com to help UK artists to succeed by giving them maximum support. The Awards ceremony recognises the hard work individuals have put into the music scene.
Dizzee Rascal won the ‘BEST NEWCOMER MC’ award in 2002. The following year Dizzee won the ‘BEST MC’ award. Just a few days earlier he had won the Mercury Music prize. When asked which one was better he was quoted as saying ‘The ‘Peoples Choice Music Awards’ means a lot to me, this is what it’s all about.’ As you may know the growth of the Urban Music has been formidable and it is still growing. It is not a standard sit down Awards ceremony it’s an actual clubbing event in conjunction with the ceremony. All the winners perform on the night as well as a few surprising PA’s
This annual event has grown to be the largest 'URBAN AWARDS' in the UK and is very important and successful as it involves people rather than just the industry..
