Kromestar - Iron Soul EP

A generous offering from Kromestar and the Marxmen crew, covering quite some ground across a varied landscape of bass music that will find favour with Dubstep, Grime and Instrumental beat heads alike. The opening track is the strongest and least traditional thing on board - an R&B edit that's more in keeping with a 2-step template or even the low-slung Hip Hop variations. No doubt, this is one of the more imaginative and righteous Dubstep variants we've heard recently. Onwards and upwards and we find ourselves in the midst of more standard instrumental Grime, before the flipside kicks in with another filthy R&B template demolished and rebuilt by Kromestar in a messed-up dark core fashion that features one of the scarier basslines, while the EP ends with a jump-up reduction complete with spooky synths and stepping progressions that work a treat.
